But that makes them all the more attractive, apparently.
Research shows that single women view married men as better catches than bachelors.
The fact that they already have someone's seal of approval adds to their desirability.
The phenomenon, known as 'mate poaching', could perhaps explain why Angelina Jolie fell for Brad Pitt, despite him being seemingly happily married to Jennifer Aniston.

In order for a film to qualify, it should have been released or should be releasing between October 1, 2008 and September 30, 2009 and should have run for seven consecutive days at least.

The Fashion star revealed her parents’ gift to her on her Twitter page, she said, “My parents got me a diamond belly button ring for my bday.”
She may not have a steady boyfriend who is gifting her diamonds, but that hardly contained her excitement. She wrote on Twitter that she has already put the ring to use, saying, “Guess what just got my piercing done! Yay!”
Currently, Priyanka Chopra is working towards promoting her upcoming film Kaminey, in which she stars opposite Shahid Kapur who was rumoured to be her boyfriend.

French actress Audrey Tautou says stepping into the clothes of fashion icon Coco Chanel was a challenge - because she was a compulsive liar.
The star of Amelie plays the famous designer in new biopic Coco Before Chanel but it seems cutting through all the myths was something of a problem.
'She was a liar, so it's difficult to know who she was before she became famous and had some success,' Tautou told Sky News.
'She didn't want to talk about her youth, I don't know why, maybe she was ashamed or maybe she didn't want people to feel pity for her because she came from a poor family.

Jackson estate to 'support mother'

- Executors of Michael Jackson's estate said the late pop star had provided full financial support to his mother when he was alive and his estate should continue to do so after his death, The Los Angeles has reported.
The daily newspaper said on Sunday that in court papers filed on Thursday, the administrators of the estate asked for approval to pay a monthly allowance to Katherine Jackson, 79.
The specific amount requested was not disclosed, the report said.

Peter Andre has confessed he had cried himself to sleep following the break-up of his marriage to Katie Price but insisted he would come out of it "a better man".
The 36-year-old singer said he was not ready to enter a new relationship despite reports of his estranged wife cavorting with a string of men since the split, including a cage fighter.
"I wish I was stronger. The one thing about Katie is that she can just move on. I can't do that. Well, not yet anyway," he told News Of The World's magazine Fabulous.
Insisting he had always been faithful to Price, aka glamour model Jordan, Andre said: "I never cheated on her, from the moment that I met her until, well, I still haven't."
He also revealed he had not told his children, Junior, four, Princess, two, and stepson Harvey, seven, that his three-and-a-half-year marriage to their mother was over, because he wanted to protect them.
The Australian pop star recalled breaking down while on a shopping trip after being hit with the "realisation that the family unit was smashed to pieces".
"It all just suddenly hit me in the Ikea car park. I had to go home, and that night I cried myself to sleep."
Andre, who met Price on ITV1's I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004, added: "I'm still in a tunnel and can't see the light yet, but I know it's there. I know I'll get there and come out a stronger man - a better man."
